Except the UK removed both MMR vaccines that contained the Urabe strain in 1992, long before Wakefield came onto the scene. Actually, Wakefield probably completely screwed the chances of parents of kids who had meningitis from the Urabe containing vaccines.
And the real irony of is that when Wakefield called for single jabs, some folks illegally imported a single mumps vaccine that used the Urabe strain. From MMR vaccine—worries are not justified:

Except the JCVI didn't "read a report of cases of mumps encephalitis" associated with MMR - they read reports of mumps MENINGITIS (which is essentially a minor complication without any neurological sequelae)
But when you are going to lie about something, why bother with errors of fact?
